Baby and toddler groups in the Stroud area on a Wednesday

September 2020 : We’re still trying to get updates from everyone about what groups are running and where : feel free to contact me with any information so we can get this updated.

♥ Nice for Newborns
All of the groups will welcome babies of any age but I understand that mums with very little babies might like something quieter, and with other newborns around. So I’ve put this symbol () next to ones that are more focused towards newborns (also sometimes called babes in arms, pre-crawling, not yet mobile).

Classes and groups meets through the holidays
◊ Classes and groups meet through some of the holiday dates

Not all parents / carers run on school holiday timetable so it’s good to know what is available outside of term time. Not all have been marked as the website is still being updated, so please let us know if any of the classes and groups run through the holidays or not that don’t already say.

Mama and Baby Yoga class at Five Valleys Physio

Suitable from 3 months to crawling babies

Baby and Mum yoga helps Mums-to-be to attune to their baby’s needs and to calm or stimulate them as appropriate, with a sense of security and wellbeing. It is beneficial for all babies. No experience is needed, and you don’t need to know anything about yoga to get started.

This class is a Birthlight Baby yoga class. Birthlight pioneered what is now known as ‘baby yoga’ as an inclusive set of practices to enhance playful interaction and communication between parent and baby and to promote their healthy development. Baby Yoga perfectly compliments baby massage and expands the benefits of touch with those of movement and relaxation.

An after class natter and cuppa! Mums can go over the canal to have tea and cake at Kitsch.

I also run Birth Preparation Workshops in Nailsworth, Stonehouse & Stroud and Deep Relaxation for Pregnancy Workshops in Stonehouse, Nailsworth & Stroud.

Please contact me to book a place,

Mother & Baby Yoga
at Warrior & Wild Yoga Studio, Nailsworth

A five week course suitable for mums who are at least six weeks postnatal, with babies up until they are mobile. £35 for the five-week course.

Yoga mats and blocks etc are provided but you might want to bring a water bottle for yourself, your baby’s own blanket for them to lie on, and perhaps a favourite toy or comforter. Please wear clothes you can move easily in: the class is done in bare feet.

The aim of these classes is for you to have an enjoyable and relaxing time, whilst improving your physical and emotional wellbeing. Women are encouraged to do whatever they need to be comfortable – please don’t feel your baby has to ‘behave’! It can take two or three sessions for both mothers and babies to get used to Mother & Baby Yoga. Usually everyone settles once they find out how relaxed these sessions are.

You will get ideas of things you can do at home with your baby to help your postnatal recovery as well as improving stability and strength. Over the weeks you will ease yourself back into exercise, regain strength in the pelvic and abdominal areas, also loosening your upper body; your neck, shoulders and upper back as these can become particularly tight as you feed, hold and carry your baby. You will also be encouraging your baby to gain strength and develop their reflexes and motor skills; whilst enjoying the company of other new mums and babies.

at Zebedee Nursery School, Tetbury Upton

We are a friendly group for parents and toddlers from approximately 10 months – 2 years.

Two nursery school teachers from the Zebedee Nursery School run the group. Activities include artwork, table toys, construction toys, the home corner, sand and water; play dough, stories, songs and music.

As part of the nursery school the Toddler Group is an excellent preparation for children moving on to the school as they become familiar with the surroundings and the teachers without being away from their parents.
